batman

Its 12.15 on a rainy afternoon... i am lacking sleep, THE WIFE is sleep lacking, junior lack sleeping... he has been cranky the past few days and he was more cranky than usual last nite... we were up almost every hour trying to get a screaming baby to clam down and sleep... hours of fun... THE WIFE and i came to the conclusion that junior cant sleep in an aircon room... he seems to be able to sleep better with the aircon off... at least it will save on the electricity bills...

junior turned 2 months on new years eve... and as a sign of growing, he has actually outgrown most of the clothes he wore when he was a new born... and as a further sign that he is getting bigger, he actually went one size up with the diapers... now he is wearing M instead of S... which left us with loads of S size diapers with no buns to cover....

junior got his new bed yesterday... it set us back by $299, but it came with free delivery, installation and a mattress to boot.... i guess its all right... its one of those that can " grow with your child"... it has three different heights and can be converted to a junior bed when junior outgrow the "cot".... plus i can hang all sorts of stuffs around him... and i can put him "behind bars" anytime he gets cranky.... hmmm....

junior's running nose is getting better though... in fact he hasnt had a sniff for a while now... the mucus has sort of dried up and have become boggers... once in a while junior would sneeze them out and they would be stuck just at the opening of his norsil.... like bats in a cave, just swinging in the breeze with every breath he takes... and its just up to daddy dearest to catch those bats and disposed of them... who can say no to this face?

double chins, just like daddy

its 20 minutes to midnight... three days away from christmas... THE WIFE just finished breast-feeding junior and is turning in, while i am in front of the comp hacking away... THE WIFE does most of the waking up in the middle of the nite to breast-feed, while i do most of the bottle-milk feed every other time... which is not often because junior seems to prefer breasts to bottle... hmmmm...

we were at the docs yesterday... it was our last visit to him... we were there for checks on THE WIFEs stiches and to run some test to see if everything is all right... we brought junior along and this would be the second time the doc meets him... well the first time was when he delivered him...

doc: hello... lets see... does he looks like the father or mother.....
THE WIFE: they say the father... got his eyebrowns and mouth...
doc: hmmm.... he looks a little like the both of you actually....
me: thats a first, most people said they looked like me...
doc: hes got big eyes... very alert.. right... today we are going to check the wound and do a pep smear... its shouldnt hurt too much...
THE WIFE: okay...

THE WIFE hop on the bed and the nurse readies her.. while i chatted with the doc

doc: she seems to have lost some weight...
me: is it? how heavy is she?
doc: 54.5kgs.... she was at her peak at 65 kgs....
me: how much was she when we first came?
doc: 45kgs.... slowly lah, it takes time...
me: can we take a picture together? you, us and the baby?
doc: sure....

the doc did the test and we took a picture after that....

doc: now the results for this test will be in in two weeks, if everything is okay, you dont have to come back but if theres something wrong, we will call you and make an appointment...
THE WIFE: okay...
doc: hope to see you again for your number two then...
me: for sure... in a year's time, we will be back.....

no tom dick or harry

its 10.30 in the evening, i just finished feeding junior and the wife is putting away junior's washing.... yup... thats been our routine for the past one month.. the night feeds, dirty diapers, cranky baby and the odd "shooting pee at daddy when he is changing me" stunt... hours of fun...

we went back to the doc for juniors injection last friday... its been a month since we got junior... yup, junior is one month old... this is a new doc, nice fella... shifty eyes though.... we got there at 10.50 for a 11 am appointment... the clinic was empty.. and according to the list on the wall, there seems to be a whole lot more boys than girls and tom dick and harry isnt as common a name as what everybody thinks... i am glad juniors name is not on that list... it wasnt long before juniors name was called...

doc: hello... how are you?
THE WIFE: he seems to be having a running nose
doc: yah, about the running nose.. theres nothing we can do about it.. hes still small, so hes nose is still small, he will outgrown the running nose when his nose gets bigger...
me: you mean we can actually wait out the running nose and he get better by himself?
doc: yah, its not a good idea to give him any medication at such a young age.. maybe if you like, i can suggest a spray solution... it will soften the mucus and he wont have any dried up mucus in his nose...
THE WIFE: okay...

the doc proceeded with the check up and gave junior his jap... junior was screaming at the top of his lungs... hard to believe someone so small can be so loud... the whole check up, injection and "ocean water" spray set us back by about $75... we got our next appointment in two months time, hopfully by then, juniors nose wont be running anymore... hmm...

lunch time baby

its 12.15 on a sunday afternoon, THE WIFE is giving junior a bath, me mum is looking on and i am just being helpful by staying out of the way... for some reason, junior seems to take his bath quietly when me mum is around.. i think its the power of mums.. when mums out-numbers kids, the kids tend to toe the line and be angels....

i gave the in-laws and me mum a call at 7 that morning... they showed up just about 11.. the funny thing is, this is only the fourth or maybe fifth time that they met....

the doc showed up again at 1 in the afternoon... after giving THE WIFE the once over again, he declared that THE WIFE is fully dilated and we are ready to push.... everybody got into position..... we have been to the pre natal class, THE WIFE have read all the books she can get her hands on regarding child-birth, i have spent many hours over coffee with friends who have recently became daddies.... but nothing can really prepare us for this... after 20 minutes of heaving and pushing.. the doc decided that THE WIFE is not pushing right and he has to assist...

doc: shes not pushing right, we have to used the suction cup.
me: okay......
doc: we will place this cup over the baby's head, and when she push, i will help to guide him along... it would be easier for her and less stressful for the baby..
me: okay...
doc: dont worry about the head being pulled out of shape... new borns have soft skulls and should regain their orginal head shape after 1 or 2 days....
me: okay....

after the doc did the necessaries, the wife pushed one last time and juniour was out.. the nurse turned to the clock on the wall...
nurse: time of birth, 1.55pm
doc: congratulations, its a baby boy... that was the easy part, the hard part is bringing him up...
me: hmmm....
the doc finish up the procedures and shook our hands...

me: does this means our appointment this thursday is cancelled?
doc: well, unless you want to put him back... you will have an appointment next week to check on the stiches..

the doc rushed out the door before i can thanked him.... then it hit me.... the doc's clinic closes for lunch from 12 to 2... maybe thats why he showed up at 1... hmmm..........
