its 12 in the afternoon... the mother in law is fixing lunch, THE WIFE is still in her PJs, junior is sleeping in his cot and i am waiting for lunch.... yes... the day has come... and gone... it was one week ago today that THE WIFE have the insperation at three in the morning, we made our way to the hospital at four.... she was hooked to a machine at five, the doc came at seven, the epidural kicked in at ten and junior pop at 1.55 in the afternoon 31 oct... halloween baby..... it was one heck of a ride.....
when we first got to the hospital that morning, the nurse did a once over of THE WIFE.. she was already dilating 3-4 cm....
me: is that good?
nurse: well... shes seems to be able to take the pain very well... the lady next door was screaming for epidural and she has only dilated 2cm..... are you sure you can take the pain?
THE WIFE: its sort of like the monthly cramps... its still bearable....
nurse: WOW... the reading is in the 100s and you still can take the pain, most people would be screaming when the machine reads 30 and above... i think you dont need the epdiural liao... can save the $700, go home and buy many many black chicken to eat...
me: hmmm......
nurse: try the gas... take deep breaths when you feel the pain.. the doc would come about and do his round later....
THE WIFE: okay...
our regualr doc came about 7 in the morning...
doc: hows everything? you got the epdiural yet?
me: nope, i think she can still bear with the pain
doc: well, let the nurse know when you need it
THE WIFE: okay
me: so, when you reckon it will be? late morning, early afternoon?
doc: hopefully...
it was not until 10 in the morning when the nurse did another once over that THE WIFE decided that she cant take it anymore... she wanted the epidural.... she has dilated 5-6 cm by now..... there goes the many many black chickens.....
for some reason, that day seem to be a hot date for giving birth.... the delivery suits left and right of us seems to be full of action, followed by babies crying......
