its four-thirty on a sunday afternoon... the sky is blue, the grass is green, i am getting fat, THE WIFE is getting cranky... yep, its a beautiful sunday afternoon of doing nothing but lazing around and surfing the telly....
we were at the doc last thus... we are in the final leg of this whole pregnancy thingy... its week 37 and technically we are full term... junior should pop anytime soon..... this week we are suppose to do the CTG or something.. sort of to hear juniors heart beat and see that they are normal...
we went into the docs office and after the usual Q and A with the doc, THE WIFE hopped on the bed...
doc: well looks like you havent put on too much weight... the baby weights about 3.2 kgs.... the dimenions looks okay..
me: how about the head? is it alright?
doc: its looks okay, its at week 38.. and you are at week 37... the body, the legs.. looks okay.....
me: can we see the face?
doc: okay, lets see now... here it is... cant really see much...
doc: have you decided a name for him? i have a patient whose name is louis, he name his daughter vuitton...
THE WIFE: louis vuitton??
doc: yah, i have no idea why people would name their kids like that... have you decided a name for him yet?
THE WIFE: yah... jayden....
doc: sounds okay... now the nurse will bring you next door and do the CTG for you...
we went to the next door and the nurse hooks up some padds on THE WIFEs belly... and then i can hear it... juniors heat beat... its sort of fluctuating between 130-170 beats per minutes...
me: is that normal? for the heart beat to be fluctuating like that?
doc: yah, it is... that is normal... i will fix the next appointment for next week and hopefully something will happen by then
me: you mean that he will come before next week?
doc: yah, hopefully...

Ready to pop
its 9.30 in the morning and the haze is getting from bad to worst, this morning it recorded a psi of 103, unhealty range... its sorta like genting, instead of the coolness, we got the smokeyness... THE WIFE is on the can and i am on the com... this could very well be the last week where we can go about our own business like nobody's business... come next week, theres a very high chance that junior will come along with his business and mess up our business.... hmmm....
we were at the docs last nite... and as usual, there was a queue even before the opening hours... after the last visit, i have decided that i will not put up with outdated magazines and brought along my own newspaper... i was half way through the nuclear thingy with N.korea when THE WIFE name was called...
doc: hello... i see you have only put on 1 kg since our last meeting, thats good... any complains? is he moving everyday?
THE WIFE: yes, he seems to be having the hiccups three times a day and i am having some problems with my piles, i thought i was having the bloody show...
doc: if its the show, then it should be sticky, like mucus... nothing to worry about, piles are just oversizesd veins with thin walls, they rupture when they have friction,i will give you some cream for it... the test results for the last test is back, it seems that we have some infection in the birth canal, i will give you some antibiotics for it, it should clear up...
me: i am concern about the head..
doc: well, theres nothing we can do about that, we can only monitor the head and see that it dont get too big during birth.. lets see how the baby is doing today..
everybody got in place...
doc: yah, his head is at week 38 and you are at week 36... he weights about 3.1 kgs now, above average.... and see his hands here? looks like he dont want you to see his face...
me: what should the average weight be?
doc: about 2.5kgs
me: huh? he was 2.8 the last time we were here...
doc: yah... i will fix the next appointment for next week... where i will check if the cervic is soft enough, if it is then we can start to induce, if not maybe we will have to go for a ceaserean.. we will see next week and take it from there...
me: huh??
doc: you see its like a fruit, you can add medicine to quicken the rippening, but sometimes you cant... it all depends on the cervic... we will see if it is suitable next week, then we can set a date and take it from there...
me: oooooookay.....
now i am nervous... i dont know when it will happen, THE WIFE dont know how it will happen and junior most probably dont know what happen...

Jayden Chua Ren Jie
its seven thirty in the evening and i am waiting for dinner to be ready, home made pizza... no wonder my diet plan doesnt work.... ever notice that the word "diet" starts with DIE??... hmmm........
my old man handed me this piece of paper last night, he has finally decided on juniors name.. its gonna be Jayden Chua Ren Jie, for the life of me, i have no idea what that four string of chinese charaters meant but according to him, it actually contains all the best things in the world, he also reckons that if you read from left to right, you would get Jayden Chua and if you read from right to left, you would get JieRen Chua... cool... how many guys out there can actually say that their mandrain name comes with a chinese poem?
we were at the doc last thus, it was week 34... we were the fourth couple in the waiting room, and i was reading some super out-dated magazine, you would think that with the money they make, they should at least have the decency to keep the magzine updated... no luck here...
we were in the docs room before long... the doc was explaining to us that we are very close to the due date and usually a check would be done to make sure that theres no risk of infection in the birth canal, he mentioned something about a test and got the nurse to ready THE WIFE while he proceeded to put on rubber gloves... usually when a doc puts on rubber gloves or for that matter, when anyone snaps on a pair of rubber gloves, you know it aint gonna be pretty..... the test was simple enough, just a swap and it was over.... and than it was back to the usual scanning
doc: hmmm.. everything looks okay, but his head is a little big though... the body is of week 34 and the head is of week 37.
me: should i be worried?
doc: well, theres really nothing you can do about it... we cant really see his face yet, hes got it up against the wall here... so now he has turned around.. his head is down here and his feets are up here....
me: should i be worried about the head thing?
doc: hmmm... dont worry, it shouldnt get too big that he cant come out the normal way... hes about 2.8 kgs now....
back at his table.... the doc was taking some data from the computer and drawing on some chart on his medical report...
doc: you see, his head is in the 90s percentile while his body is in the 70s percentile..
me:should i be worry about his head?
doc: theres really nothing we can do about it now, what have you been feeding him?
THE WIFE: eh, isnt it suppose to be what is he drawing from me?
doc: yah, you are right, theres nothing you can eat to really affect his growth. it all depends on what he draws from you... okay, see you in two weeks time and hopefully, we can see his face...if not, you are going to see him in few few weeks time anyway.
with that, we said our thank yous and good-byes... its a two week wait till we can get another scan at junior again... now i am starting to call him big head... not many guys can actually go around and proudly tell people that their junior have a big head... hmmmm....
