Whos your daddy?

its 20 past 5 in the evening, THE WIFE is watching some discovery channel program, when i am home on mc.... food poisoning.. i have been having the runs since last nite, and it aint a pretty sight.......

we went to the doc yesterday, we are into our 6th month... by now, THE WIFE is getting big... bearing in mind that she used to have a 28 inch waist, now she is almost as big as i am... i guess its a common thing that when the wives are pregnant, the husband will also put on some weight... the funny thing is, my weight has not really gone up, in fact i still weight the same as when i first came out from NS, abut ten years ago... i just got more wave-like around the mid area.... i still jog every other day, but you know you are in trouble when every step you take, everything shakes... and in case you are wondering, thats me in the bottom....

we got to the doc at about 7.30 in the evening... as we were the first couple there, we were sent into the docs office as soon as he was ready...

doc: so hows everything?
THE WIFE: everything is fine, i stayed away from the sweet stuffs, cut down on carbo and have been taking more fruits... but i think my weight is still going up.. is there a normal weight where i should be?
doc: yah, you put on 3.5kgs since your last visit, what else can we cut from your diet?... you should be increasing slowly, at this rate, you are almost "there" in fact you "owe" me some... are you taking any milk?
me:nope
doc:well, lets take a look at your baby and see hows things....(THE WIFE jumped on the bed, the nurse dim the lights the doc flick on the screen and i take the my position just behind the doc... i love it when everybody knows just what to do...)
doc: the baby's measurement looks okay, the diameter of the head looks normal, the weight of the baby is about 480 grams, the baby is of average weight, not too big, not too small.....
me:so everythings fine?
doc:yah.... maybe next visit we can do a 3D scan of the face, see how the baby looks like, hope the baby is facing the right way....
THE WIFE:okay....

and with that, concludes our 5th visit to the doc.. time flies, in about 3 months time, i will be someone's daddy... and i can get to use that infamous line "your father tell you" on him and not be faulted for it... cool......

No more milk

its 10.30 on a monday night, THE WIFE is watching desperate houswives and i am desperatly trying to wack some pesky houseflies.....

we went to the doc three days ago... we were into our 20th week, this is the week when our blood test results comes in (the doc took some blood from THE WIFE to run some tests during our last visit) this is also the week when the doc will do a complete scan to check on juniour, check all his organs and stuffs...

we got to the doc's half an hour early, the waiting room was packed... standing room only.... the nurse did the usual blood pressure test and weighing for THE WIFE while i was trying to make out which episope of futurama was showing on the telly......

its wasnt long before our turn and we were in the docs room

doc : hello, how are you? i see you are putting on weight...
THE WIFE : yah, i put on four kilos in four weeks
doc : how you been eating well? hows your diet?
THE WIFE : everythings fine, its just that i seem to be craving sweet stuffs and fizzy drinks more
doc : you should cut down on the sweet stuffs, not too healthy... eat less starchy stuffs like rice and bread... have you been drinking milk?
THE WIFE : yah, once every morning
doc : maybe you should stop that... the baby is getting all the nutrients from the pills i have given you, we dont want the baby to grow too much else you might have some difficulty during birth... (NUTS!!!! i spent big bucks on some top of the line milk formula for pregnant ladies and the doc is ordering her not to drink it? she's not even half through the tin!! what the hey am i suppose to do with the rest of it? drink it myself??? i swear this is the reason why the husbands put on weight when the wife is pregnant....)

with that, THE WIFE hops on the bed and the scaning begains

doc : lets see now... good, everything looks alright, theres four fingers, you are suppose to see only four fingers because the thumb is on a different plane, if you see five then you should worry...
me : hmmm...
doc : there, more comfirmation that he's a boy, see this turtle head here? if its a girl you will see a hamburger, if its a boy you can see a turtle head, and this is a big turtle head...
me : hmmmmmmmm...
doc : his spine, heart, kidneys, stomach, ambilical cord, brain.... lips looks okay.... everything is fine... of course ultra-scan is not 100%, but its a very good indications of things....

after the scan we were back at his table..

doc : the results are back, and they look good.. the the cut off is 1 in 250, yours is 1 in 8020... thats a very good number... that would put you in the low risk..
THE WIFE : okay, thats good
me : must she stop drinking milk completely? maybe she can cut down and still drink a little? (this is my last ditch effort to get the okay for THE WIFE to drink milk again)
doc : it would be good if she stops competely... theres all the vitamits and nutrients she needs in the pills i am giving her.... (double NUTS....)

we will be due for an appointment in another months time... and maybe i will try to push the milk agenda again....

thats my boy, the flasher

Its four thirty in the afternoon, THE WIFE is having her usual post-pre nap and i am just shooting the breeze at the computer..... the wife is complaining that she is not putting on weight and that her tummy is not showing... now, thats something you dont hear women say everyday... i reckon most pregnant women would be envious of that... to put on as little weight as medically allowed, with as little stretch marks as possible..... the whole "look at me, i got my figure back ONE day after giving birth" every woman wants that.... right??

we went to the doc's in the morning... it will be week 16.. this is the week when i am suppose to fork out big money to pay for a package, blood tests and all that stuff... this will also be the week we find out if junior is gonna be a he or a she....... i had an agreement with THE WIFE, she will name the boy, i will name the girl... this way, one of us wins no matter which way junior swings.... she settled for Jayden, while i am still in a toss up between April and Sophie....

we got to the docs at ten in the morning... THE WIFE did the pee test and the nurse explained to us the blood test.. after that we went in to see the doc.... THE WIFE complained that she cant take milk, the doc explained that it could be due to the taste... THE WIFE mentioned that she is not putting on weight, the doc agreed..... after that she hoped on the bed...

doc: lets see now... the baby looks all right.... heres the head, it looks normal... heres the spine... heres the heartbeat.... lets see if we can tell if its a boy or a girl.... do you want a boy or a girl?
THE WIFE: either case is fine, but i think HIS MOTHER wants a boy....
me:hmmmm.......
doc:well.... looks like you wont have any pressure... its a boy.... see this little thing between the leggs?.... 99% sure its a boy....
me:hmmm......
doc:dont worry about the weight thing, the baby is fine, thats the important thing and as for the tummy not showing, for most 1st time mothers, the stomach muscle are still tort, it will hold the tummy in.

after the doc drew three tubes full of blood from THE WIFE, we made the next appointment for four weeks later. the whole package and blood test set me back 750 bucks... but at least i will get to see the doc for free till delivery day..... estimated 15 NOV.... four days after me own dad's birthday... how cool would it be if my junior and my senior were to share the same birthday?

the best words you can ever hear

Its just past four on a sunday afternoon and THE WIFE is having one of her post-lunch pre-dinner naps... its unbelievable how much a pregant lady can sleep... she is feeling better though, she is not throwing up as often, in fact, after she stopped taking milk and the folic acid pills, she has not been puking at all....

we went to the doc last thusday, exactly 12 weeks into our pregnancy, 4 weeks after our 3rd appointment. it was our 4th visit to the doc. there wasnt too many people on a weekday afternoon, i finally got a chance to sit infront of the tv in the waiting room... as we were into the 12th week, THE WIFE have to do a pee test... there i was, in front of the tv, NOT able to channel surf, reruns of johnny english is not my idea of good tv

we went into the docs office after the pee test. after the usual pleasentries, THE WIFE hopped on the bed and we are looking the screen again...

doc: hmm, everything looks okay
me: huh-huh.... (thats the best four words you can ever heard from any doctor, follow closely by "dont worry, its free")
doc: heres the spine, the head, theres two hands, two legs, fingers and toes.... everything looks good....
me: huh-huh... (i was just starting at the screen, its IS the first time i am seeing junior as a human form, it took me ability to speak away)
doc: do you want a boy or a girl?
THE WIFE: its fine, as long as the baby is fine, we are fine with a boy or a girl...
doc: well, heres the legs.... lets see if we can see anything in between.... nope, i cant really tell, maybe next visit we can see something... or not....

we fixed our next appointment four weeks later, and as the nurse was giving me the prescribe iron pills, she passed me a box of milk powder for pregant ladies and said "dont worry, this is free". what are the odds of hearing two best words in one afternoon?
