its 5 to 5 on a sunday afternoon... the wife is baking a cake (doesnt happen all the time) junior is bugger her (happens all the time) and i am looking out to a cloudly sky and hacking at the computer(doesnt happen enough times) hmmmm.... i guess i should enjoy it while it last.... we were at the docs a couple of saturday ago for his last pneumococcal shot... for a 11 am appointment, we arrival at 11.30... we were late... not half an hour, but we were there in november for an august appointment... hows that for being late... somehow, we have misread the date on our appointment card.... hmmm.... after some assurance from the nurse that its okay, we were in the docs office...
doc: so how are we today? what can i do for you today?
me: we are here for his shot..
THE WIFE: he seems to be having a little running nose, is it alright for him to get his shot today?
doc: well... it shouldnt be a problem... as long as he is not running a fever, its okay...
doc: okay... lets do some tests here... is he feeding alright? is he on solids yet? how many meals a day? can he stand? can he call mama?
me: ya... ya... twice, he seems to be eating whatever we give him... a little... sort of....
doc: alright then... lets see if he can pick up small things... hmm... he can do it quite well.... all right, daddy put him on the bed... lets give him his shot...
me: okay...
doc: there... this shot should have him immune for life... his next shot should be when he turns 18 months....
THE WIFE: okay...
doc: heres a list of do and donts... make sure you child proof your house, keep him away from hot areas when cooking... discipline by distraction....
me: okay....
the whole shot and lecture form the doc set us back by 200 dollars... but before we left, we got the nurse to give us a can of formula... i guess its not a total loss...
